What Will My Case Cost?
Estimate your legal fees
Most people Google "how much does a lawyer cost" and get nothing useful. This tool asks a few honest questions about your matter and gives you a realistic fee bracket, so you can plan.
This is a planning bracket, not a quote. Actual fees depend on the specific facts of your matter, how the other side behaves, and whether the case settles or proceeds. We offer fixed fees on many matters (uncontested divorces, simple wills, standard real estate closings) and transparent hourly rates with regular billing on contested work.
This tool is not legal advice and does not create a solicitor-client relationship with Lexaltico LLP. For a real quote specific to your situation, book a complimentary 30-minute consult and we'll give you a straight answer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Fee Estimator FAQs
How does the Lexaltico fee estimator work?
Answer a few quick questions about your legal matter, and our estimator calculates a typical cost range based on Ontario legal market rates and matter complexity. The tool accounts for service type, whether the matter is contested, and relevant factors. You'll get an estimate in minutes. This is a starting point—actual fees depend on your specific situation and our detailed review.
Are these fees the same as what Lexaltico will charge me?
The estimator shows typical market ranges for Ontario. Lexaltico's actual fees depend on your specific matter. For many services (real estate closings, uncontested divorces, immigration applications), we offer fixed or flat fees that may be lower than hourly alternatives. We always provide a detailed, written quote before engaging. Compare our quote with the estimate to see how we align with market rates.
What if my estimate seems too high or too low?
Call us at 416-333-6200 for a free consultation. Bring your estimate result and explain your situation in detail. Our lawyers can explain whether the estimate aligns with your facts or if there are factors that significantly affect pricing. Every matter is unique—your actual fees may be higher or lower than the general estimate depending on specific circumstances.
Does the estimator include all possible costs?
The estimator shows lawyer fees. It may not include all disbursements (court fees, filing fees, title searches, appraisals, etc.). When we provide a detailed quote, we itemize both professional fees and anticipated disbursements. Some costs are unpredictable (e.g., expert witness fees if litigation becomes necessary). We discuss these variables during your consultation.
Is the estimate binding?
No. The estimator provides general information only. It does not bind Lexaltico to any fee. When you consult with us, we provide a formal, detailed quote. That quote becomes binding once you sign our engagement letter. The actual engagement fee is based on your specific matter after we've reviewed all facts and identified potential issues.
How can I get an accurate quote for my matter?
Use the estimator to get a general sense of costs, then contact us for a free consultation at 416-333-6200. Prepare your key documents and facts. During the consultation, explain your situation fully. Our lawyer will ask detailed questions and provide a realistic fee estimate. We explain our fee structure, whether we can offer flat fees or fixed rates, and discuss payment options.
